Dafodils are here again
So this signifies almost a year now for us in Kiwilandia...
these daffodils are the ones in Whitby that i did not see last year, all I saw last year was the ornamental cherry tree blossoms..
It is a weird thing to move to another country..

Train3
Train3
Nothing special just two teenage bots sitting on the train on the way home.. listening to tunes on their MP3 players..

Train
Train
There is a lot of movement and colour on the train, a lot of colour recently, which is strange. When I arrived here in Kiwilandia, what struck me was the LACK of colour on the train, everyone was wearing grays and blacks, but it seems it was just then and the time of the day that I was travelling when I got to the land of the long white cloud. But in summer it was different..

There are the most amazing array of green veggies that we do not know at the market... it is just amazing.

view of the waterfront from hotel room in Auckland
This is the view from the window of my hotel, fancy one;-), for which I was chastised by my boss... But none the less it is a strange city. It makes me think of Hong Kong even though I have never seen it, but I suspect it has something to do with a picture i must have seen somewhere in the past ..

significance
an old photograph out of sequence that reminded me of something, was just looking through some old pics of mine on flickr. This is the day that we re-saw someone for the first time in a long time.

saving the forest one sip of coffee at a time
here more so than ever is a case for situational or even just lazy blindness, i have walked past these "street-art" posters or images or whatever you want to call them, but have never stopped to read the detail. so there I went rushing again.. that is another story completely, i decided today i will take a pic and then post here and then as an after thought I can read what is on the poster afterwards on the picture. Nonetheless I still dont know what is on the poster.. well i do and i know what it is about, but i have not actually had a look at the exact detail on the poster. I subscribe this to wikigooglitiss (it is a sAd phenomena that we have all developed oVer the last few years where we have the inability to remember things because we can just google it or Wiki it to confirm what we think/thought or dont know, yes it makes us more informed about things but only superficially, sad but true).
Oh and the second silly station pic, me now moving to a new part of the planet have discovered the amazing thing called seasonal changes ... WOW is all i can say... The day becomes about 2 and a bit minutes longer every day.. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=264 this may seem like an absolutely arb
fact, but Pretoria where I used to reside only changes by about 1 minute a day.. but it just seems so much more noticeable here :-) My point being .. nothing really
back to the pic, what I wanted to say was .. soon I can cycle to the station and back without my super bright headlamp ... aesh what a pleasure ..

And the brightly coloured HDR image ..
yes the image of the vegetable seller at the market, in bright HDR.. shocking and not photography, but it was done because it showed something less than obvious to you, but to us a point of situational blindness that we all have.
What is interesting is that i had never before seen or in actual fact bought these Asian greens, but we have now absorbed them into our diet and now buy Pok Choi (spelling is ambiguous and incorrect) and include it as part of our diet.
The mode and method of buying food has also changed and we have become blind to this in less than a couple of months. We don't always see what we see everyday as anything strange other than the first time we see it.

a little on the previous few pics
some of these pics seem meaningless, which in general terms they are
the blue sky with the yellow shows an insane invader (invasive plant) here in kiwilandia, it looks amazing, but the "Gorse" a native of Scotland has taken over huge sections of the island. Amazingly this plant is now becoming threatened in its home land .. it is such a pretty flower but creates an impenetrable thicket full of thorns .. It used to be used in Scotland as a hedge to protect sheep from wild animals. It is the edge of reason, the stark blue contrasts the bright yellows and deep greens hiding the thorny reality that lies within.
the seemingly innocuous picture of the dark sky at the station heralds in the burgeoning spring which is only a month or so away, soon we will be able to fish after work and have the wonderful long days again:-)
the fire extinguisher picture is for Muriel and Slats Naair .. they like those kind of things
the eggs Benedictine .. because I have never had this before (well called this) and pictures of food always look nice ..
A strange thing, I was walking on the weekend and went to church on the inlet, I went to Gaia's church, the water lapped at my feat as I circumvented the inlet early on Sunday morning taking photo's, I saw something amazing, beyond the millions of cockle shells and flotsam and jetsam lying around, there was a dead bird that was covered in pearls of dew..
more pic/s tomorrow
